“Steel” is a raw, reflective ballad about two souls colliding in a fleeting but unforgettable moment. Blending poetic storytelling with a soulful Americana edge, the song explores the tension between desire and restraint, the ache of memory, and the armor we build around our hearts.

Marcos originally wrote “Steel” as an eleven-year wedding anniversary gift to his wife, Jacquelyn. In a tongue-in-cheek nod to tradition, he took the symbolic anniversary gift—steel—and turned it into a song, performed fittingly on a steel guitar. “You can’t make this up,” Marcos laughs, but the sentiment runs deeper than the play on words.

With lines like “I’ll steal your heart again / I’ll steel my heart from sin,” the song plays on the dual meaning of steel—reflecting both the vulnerability of emotional risk and the inner strength it takes to stay grounded. It’s a song about what could’ve been, what was, and what still flickers in the quiet corners of memory.

“Steel” is more than a love song—it’s a moment frozen in time, dressed in melody and meaning.
